Description
These Spalted Quilted Maple Wood Handle Blocks combine two dramatic wood figures in one stunning piece – the twisting, wavy “quilted” grain and the unique colouration caused by spalting. Quilted maple offers more intense figure than curly maple, creating a rippled, almost three-dimensional effect in the wood.
Spalting occurs when fungus lightly affects the wood, producing darker tones and distinctive black lines. The result is a visually striking block that’s both artistic and functional.
These blocks are hard enough to be used as-is for knife handles, but can also be stabilised with Resinex or Cactus Juice for added weight and density.
